The Ramstein Law Center opened for business on Feb. 4. We will once again offer free personal income tax services for eligible active duty members, dependents, and retirees. The Tax Center is co-located with the Ramstein Law Center in Building 2137 on Ramstein AB. Appointments can be made by calling the Tax Center at 480-1040 or 06371-47-1040.

Expanding on last year’s self-help model, during 2019 the Ramstein Tax Center will provide basic tax preparation and filing services for active duty personnel and their dependents as well as military retirees with SOFA status who have: 1) income under $100,000 ($150,000 for a married couple filing a joint return); 2) residential rental property in no more than one state; 3) no foreign earned or taxed income; and 4) no more than five capital asset (stock) transactions. Our focus is on personal income tax and we are unable to assist with the filing of taxes related to commercial activities like home businesses. Assistance may be provided to other KMC personnel who have SOFA status on a space available basis. If you need assistance please call.

In addition to the Ramstein Tax Center, the Army has one tax center in the KMC area this year. It is in Room 1 of Building 3210, on Kleber Kaserne. Their services are available on a walk-in basis. We recommend contacting the Kleber Tax Center for information on eligibility. Additionally, service members and their dependents can file their taxes independently and without charge using Military OneSource at https://www.militaryonesource.mil/financial-legal/tax-resource-center.
