Resolve to reach out for holidays, new year

Col.Robert Kane
86th Airlift Wing commander

***image1***Wow, it’s hard to believe we have almost finished our first year since the reorganization of the 86th Airlift Wing. We started Jan. 15 and have been leading the way throughout the European Command ever since. With multiple initiatives in the global war on terror, quelling violence in Kosovo and deploying troops to Central Command in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, we have been running at breakneck speed.

In addition to these taskings, you continue to impress me with your selfless dedication both on and off duty. All of our Hidden Hero and Project CHEER volunteers make a huge difference in the daily lives of personnel throughout the KMC. Volunteering isn’t something that you do just around the holidays, but you have been active throughout the year. On behalf of all those who have benefited from your sacrifices, I would like to say thank you for all that you do.

During this holiday season I ask that you take some well deserved time off to recharge and spend quality time with your families and friends. Enjoy yourselves and reach out to those who may be alone or separated from their loved ones this holiday season.

When you decide on your personal resolutions for the new year, also think about setting some personal goals for the workplace – making the time to work out each day is one of my personal favorites.

My challenge for you this year is to identify areas in the wing that you think need improvement and take the steps toward making things better. With this attitude we will continue to be the world’s premier contingency response wing.
God bless and happy holidays.
