ROSC Welfare Bazaar: Why go?

***image1***I look forward to this event every year because not only does it provide me with four fabulous days of shopping, it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling knowing that a portion of my hard-earned cash is going right back into the KMC.

If you have some extra time on your hands, go volunteer. Go to www.ramstein-bazaar.org, download the application and follow the directions. More volunteers are still needed.

If there is something you haven’t been able to find, chances are, it will be at the bazaar. I always encourage my friends to really explore each booth. Often just talking with the vendor about what he or she is selling provides a history lesson, a cultural insight or some of that interesting random Cliff Claven information nobody else seems to know.

***image2***If you see something you like, better buy it or somebody else will. This year there will be a new Italian fur vendor.  You can bet I will be giving that one a look-see.

Some of my favorites are Bob and Janet Wallis, the cigarette card vendors, who always have something new and interesting I just have to put on my wall; Dirk and Ank de Ridder with Holland Handicrafts have tons of interesting items from antique ice skates that skated the frozen canals in Holland to hourglasses made from old wooden spools; and the charming Italian gentleman who sells the most beautiful handmade cameos I have ever seen. I have many more favorites, but c’mon, I can’t give away all my secrets.

***image3***This year there will be some entertainment on the schedule. Several high school bands, the Girl Scouts, the Catholic choir and other musicians will provide music and entertainment during those food fuel-up breaks, even us maniacal shoppers must take.

So, go support the KMC by volunteering your time, donating your baked goods, eating some delicious food or simply buying something fabulous you can enjoy for years to come.
