Rubly Stable: Discover a love for horses

***image1***The Training and Breeding Stable Rubly in Kleinbundenbach is one of the biggest, and is the oldest, stud farms in Rheinland-Pfalz.

The stable, which is licensed with the German National Riding Association, is owned and run by a family that has lived on the farm for more than 150 years. Five years ago, the oldest son of the family, Andreas, took over the farm. Herr Rubly has won more than 60 grand-prix competitions and was winner of the National Jumping Championship four times. He also won the International Southwest Derby 2004.

***image2***The farm is home to horses and other animals − Frederik, the minipig; Sellock, the dog; Bärlie, the goat; Paul, the cat; and Hanni and Nanni, the guinea pigs.

Normally, there are between 50 and 55 horses and ponies of all ages on the farm. The main emphasis is the breeding, the training and the marketing of above-average, new-generation horses, as well as riding ponies.

***image3***The farm’s achievements include raising and training the new-generation horses and the sale, rent and switching of more experienced horses and ponies for people of all generations.

There are more than 80 hay fields around the farm, which allow the possibility of raising the horses during all seasons. The farm also supports (problem) studs with planned pregnancies or support of the stud until the birth of the foal.

***image4***Among the farm’s biggest successes are the self-bred horses, including “Felix” − a 10-year-old black barrier who won in the International World Cup jumping competition in Las Vegas in 2007 with his American rider; “Couleur Noir” − a premier stallion from age 3 in Munich; and “Snickers” − who was placed in an international jumping competition in 2007.

But, the best success news is when junior riders report that they have been successful with the farm’s horses in basic competitions.

***image5***The farm has recently enlarged its activities in Rodenbach, just five minutes from Kaiserslautern. In Rodenbach, there is a stable with 30 modern boxes, paddocks, a big arena, two big riding rings and a large nature area behind the stable for riding outdoors. In Rodenbach, visitors can buy a horse or pony or rent their “dream horse.”  And, you can bring your own horse to the stable too.

In addition to the sport programs at the farm, another focus is working with children. The stable is home to many ponies, who are great for riding lessons for children, 3 years and up. Lessons for riders of all ages are offered and all types of riding, including  dressage, jumping and outdoor are offered.

***image6***The Rodenbach stables are also nice for birthday parties and holiday riding camps. Teacher Sandra Rubly and two other instructors are trained to work with handicapped children. The Rubly family speaks English.
