The 435th Services Squadron’s auto hobby shops and auto recycling center offer different services for automotive needs.

According to John Stanchfield, 435th SVS marketing director, these centers are traditionally known as self-help facilities. However, the auto skills centers have certified Automotive Service Excellence mechanics on staff to help with just about any repair.

Below are the services these facilities offer.

Kapaun Auto Skills Center
• state-of-the-art brake testing machine
• air conditioning repair
• custom stereo installation
• standard services of oil and lube
• tire work
• tune-ups
• brake service
• order parts and tires using U.S. and European suppliers

Ramstein Auto Skills Center
• the Modis ™ diagnostic scan system
• clutch work
• brakes
• muffler and tailpipe work
• the only front-end alignment machine in the area
• order parts and tires using U.S. and European suppliers
• PCS car prep for shipping
• two car washes (one 24/7 manual station, one automatic)

Ramstein Auto Recycling Center
• used cars
• parts
• full service towing program
• closed bid auctions
• recycling services for both old vehicles and parts

All three offices work together to make auto care as easy as possible.
“We’re pretty much a one-stop shop providing a full range of services,” said Eddie Forest, Ramstein center manager. “But it’s important to note that with such a wide range of vehicles to service (both U.S. and European specs), sometimes we’ll need to send you to see a dealer for those unusual situations.”

The auto shops are located on Ramstein (Bldg. 2477) and on Kapaun (Bldg. 2806); the auto recycling center (Bldg. 5122) is located off base on the road leading to Einsiedlerhof and the A-6.
