Mount Everest Climb Challenge

Challenge yourself by climbing Mount Everest’s 29,035 feet as many times as you can. In the Mount Everest Climb Challenge, each participant will climb the Jacob’s Ladder to accumulate as many feet as possible during the month of May. Check in at the front desk at Northside, Southside or Vogelweh fitness centers to start logging your climbs. Prizes will be awarded to the male and female with the highest number of feet climbed at the end of the challenge. Free to participate.

Free Scuba Diving Expo

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors offers an Open Water Certification course during their free expo from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ramstein Aquatic Center. Preregister for any of the scuba courses and receive $10 off the course fee. For details, call at 06371-405-7665.

Strong B.A.N.D.S. 10-mile run

Come out for the U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Strong B.A.N.D.S. Cross Country 10-Miler May 14. Registration for the run will be held from 9 to 10:15 a.m. on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Bldg. 370. The run will begin at 10:30 a.m. T-shirts will be given to the first 50 runners to register. Awards will be given to first-, second- and third-place men, women and youth runners. Entry fee: $7. Team challenge: GoRuck Adventure

Ramstein Outdoor Recreation is sponsoring a team-building course covering 7 to 10 miles from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15. The course features obstacles based on special operations training, such as carrying weights and crawling through mud pits. A cookout will immediately follow the event. Meeting point and course location to be determined. Cost is $30, and the event is for ages 18 and older. Preregistration is open through May 13 at Ramstein Outdoor Recreation. This is an Air Force Agency initiative program that falls under the guidance of Recharge 4 Resiliency, which targets Airmen and their family members who are affected by deployment.

Unit Level Softball sign-ups

Teams wishing to participate in Unit Level Softball must sign up by May 16. The Unit Level Softball season begins May 31. Golf tournament

The Woodlawn Women’s Golf Association will sponsor the 2016 Rally for the Cure golf tournament June 4 at the Woodlawn Golf Course on Ramstein. There will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m., registration begins at noon. Fee for Woodlawn members is €60 or $60, and for nonmembers it is €75 or $75. Registration includes green fee, cart and lunch. Youth Sports Volunteer Fair

Do you want to help out in the community? Are you passionate about supporting kids and enhancing their lives? Landstuhl and Sembach Youth Sports are looking for volunteer coaches to coach during the upcoming fall sports season. All adults are welcome to become a certified coach after passing a background check. Coaches are needed in several sports, including: tackle football, flag football, soccer, cheerleading and volleyball. Officials’ soccer clinic, practicum

Are you interested in becoming a certified soccer official? Installation Management Command Europe offers a free officials’ clinic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14 to 17 at the Sembach Religious Support Office, Bldg. 118. Open to all ID cardholders, ages 18 and older. A practicum tournament will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 18 at Landstuhl Cage Field. Bodybuilding, Figure Invitational

U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz will host a Bodybuilding and Figure Invitational June 25 at the Kaiserslautern High School auditorium. Open to all ID cardholders, including active-duty military members, family members and Department of Defense civilians ages 18 and older. Entry fee: $45. Registration will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A mandatory competitors’ meeting will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The event will begin at noon. Trophies will be presented for first and second place in each weight-height division as well as an overall award for men and women. Cost for spectators: $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Preregistration will be open June 15 to 22. The FV Olympia Ramstein women’s soccer team is looking for players age 16 and older. Practice is held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the FV Olympia Ramstein soccer field at Am Hocht, across from the Esso station in Ramstein village. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes

SKIESUnlimited now offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in three different levels: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Juniors, ages 3 to 4 years old; Little Grapplers, ages 5 to 17 years old; and Bully Busters, ages 8 to 13 years old. Outdoor Recreation now offers Disc Golf at Pulaski Park. Grab a team, pick up a Frisbee and take advantage of this interactive flying disc game that requires precision and accuracy. The brand-new Disc Golf course at Pulaski Park is open for public use. Frisbees may be rented from Outdoor Recreation, or you may bring your own.
