CYS Winter Sports Registration

Sign-up your young athletes for sports through Army Youth Sports and Fitness. Basketball & Cheerleading are each $45 and offered on Landstuhl & Sembach for children ages 5-15. Wrestling is available for ages 8-14 on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, also for $45. Start Smart Basketball

Start Smart is a “child/ parent interactive” program lead by a Youth Sports staff member for ages 3 to 4. Forty-five minute sessions are held weekly from 4 to 4:45 p.m. for 6 weeks. Sessions are offered on Landstuhl and Sembach. Cost is $25. Registration is open November 1-30 or until sessions are full. Seewoog run

Olympia Ramstein running team will sponsor its annual Seewoog run starting 10 a.m. Sunday at the bus station of Realschule plus, below Reichswald Sporthalle (gym) on Schernauer Strasse. Registration will be in Reichswald school gym. The bambini run (born 2011 and up) is at 10 a.m., students’ run (born 2002 to 2010) is at 10:10 a.m., the main run of 10 kilometers is at 10:30 a.m., and everybody’s run/Nordic walking of five kilometers begins at 10:35 a.m. The main run and everybody’s run will lead to Seewoog pond in Miesenbach and back.  The shorter runs will lead around the school. Soccer players needed

The FV Olympia Ramstein Soccer Club is looking for male and female players born in 2003/2004. Practice takes place 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday on the artificial turf pitch at Am Hocht 1 in Ramstein village. Soccer for girls

The Kottweiler-Schwanden Sports Club is looking for girls born in the years 2005 up to 2008 for its youngest girls’ soccer team. The sports club has three girls’ teams and two women’s teams. They are also looking for new players. This is the opportunity to get involved in a German soccer club playing with German and American girls. Coaches are all able to speak English. Soccer Lessons

Soccer is offered year round (indoor soccer arena from November-May). The coaches training with the kids are professional soccer coaches who have trained and played for years. Their training will be packed with soccer drills, soccer skills, soccer conditioning and fitness development. Youth will develop basic and fundamental soccer skills that all players need as well as tactic, formations and much more. The goal is to assist youth soccer players to achieve their playing potential through proper skills, fitness and conditioning development. Focus is on having fun and learning about soccer. Zombie 5k Fun Run

Run for your lives! Zombies have infested Smith Barracks, and at 9 a.m. Oct. 27, they’re coming for you on the Baumholder Sports and Fitness 5k fun run course. Come in your Halloween costume or dress as a zombie. Registration opens at 8 a.m. the day of the race. Race begins and ends at Hall of Champions Fitness Center. No cost to participate. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Classes

SKIESUnlimited offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in two different levels: Little Grapplers, ages 5 to 17; and Bully Busters, 8 to 13. Little Grapplers teaches basic self-defense techniques while instilling the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu foundational principles of leverage and control. Bully Busters focuses on a set curriculum of non-violent, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu based, self-defense techniques that teach children to “neutralize and negotiate” with bullies. No experience required and you can count on seeing a visible increase in your child’s confidence within a few short weeks. Open to all branches of service.
