Spring secrets shared

The thing I love most about springtime is that the days get longer. With spring on the way, I’ll be getting out the grill and will start planning some of our patio parties. All of my German neighbors love these American-style grilling parties. I get steaks from the Ramstein Commissary, lots of fresh veggies and all of the ingredients for my super-secret margarita − a real party pleaser.

That’s what spring is to me − fun with family and friends, enjoying the warming weather and telling tall tales around the barbecue grill. I’d like to say that my neighbors keep coming back each year to our parties for the good company.

For fun, we had a little margarita-making contest. I had been making margaritas my way for years with rave reviews and thought I was a shoe-in to win.

Then, in sashays a nurse with her pitcher of margaritas. I didn’t get a single vote. Somehow – and the details start to get fuzzy here – I got the recipe. And it’s been a hit ever since. That first pitcher of lime-garnished margaritas shared with friends − that’s spring to me.
