Pumpkin weighing championship
Just like in 2015, the Gartenschau Kaiserslautern offers its annual Rhineland-Palatinate Pumpkin Weighing Championship at 1 p.m. Sunday near the entrance. Pumpkin breeders show off and weigh their pumpkins. Prizes are awarded to the heaviest and nicest-looking pumpkins. The pumpkin display, under the motto “Royal,” continues through the end of the season, Oct. 31. The Gartenschau, also known as dino park, is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Swap meet offers minerals, fossils, guided tours

The former mining village of Imsbach at Donnersberg hill will be a mecca for friends of minerals and fossils. Under the motto “Informing — Swapping — Buying,” the 32nd swap meet will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Imsbach community hall.

Bad Muenster takes visitors on trip through Middle Ages

Bad Muenster am Stein/Ebernburg will hold its 30th Medieval Market with jousting tournaments today through Sunday. The market, with more than 110 stands, will be located in the old part of Ebernburg, below Ebernburg Castle. The knights tournament will take place near the banks of Nahe River, in front of Rotenfels, a huge red sandstone rock.
