Festival lovers don’t have to wait until fall for Oktoberfest, the Bad Dürkheim Wurstmarkt and for other festivals to come around — the 77th Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest, or Stuttgart Spring Festival, takes place April 18 to May 10 at the Cannstatter Wasen.
At Europe’s largest spring festival, there will be 3.5 kilometers of rides, beer tents, food and beverage stalls, entertainment and good times. Fun is guaranteed.
The City of Annweiler/Trifels will celebrate its annual chestnut festival Saturday and Sunday.
The world’s biggest wine festival, called the “Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt,” starts today.

Harvest time in Germany is also wine fest time. One of the highlights of the wine fest season is the annual German Wine Harvest Fest in Neustadt along the German Wine Street through Oct. 14.
The 29th lake fest at Lake Ohmbachsee will take place today to Sunday. For three days, the lake will turn into a big, natural stage with lights, music and shows. Bands of various styles will entertain visitors on three stages set up around Ohmbachsee.
Visitors of Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel will learn everything about herbs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Under the motto “Herbal secrets at Lichtenberg Castle,” the castle will offer guided tours of the medieval herbal garden, herbal hikes, and lectures and presentations.
Kaiserslautern’s city center will be the stage for a street theater festival of its own kind today to Sunday. For the seventh year, Lebenshilfe Kaiserslautern (an association for the mentally disabled) will sponsor the event “Alles Muss Raus!” or, “Get it all out!” in cooperation with Lebenshilfe Arts and Culture, the City of Kaiserslautern and the Rheinland-Pfalz Culture Summer.
