Retiree luncheon

The 86th Airlift Wing Retirees Activities Office will sponsor a KMC Retiree Luncheon at 11 a.m. March 13 at the KMCC Food Court Activity Room.  Guest speaker will be the LRMC commander.  If you wish to attend sign up by calling 480-5486 or 06371-47-5486, or email 86aw.rao@us.af.mil.

Parking discs needed

In certain parking lots on Ramstein Air Base, display of parking disc is required. The maximum allowable time a car may remain in these lots is posted; the driver must set the disc to the arrival time and make it visible. The following are some parking lots where discs are required; MOMS, Ramstein Officers’ Club, commissary, library and community center. Parking without displaying a disc or remaining past the allowed time could result in a citation.

Main road closes

Constructions on the main road leading through Hirschhorn will continue Monday, if weather permits. The main road will be closed totally. Motorists must follow the detour signs.

New process, new hours

The Ramstein Visitor Control Center recently changed processes on issuing passes. The VCC now issues passes with a scannable barcode. These passes are valid for one to three days and may be used at any KMC Air Force or KMC Army installation. Any request longer than three days will require customers to receive a long-term pass. Customers should understand with the new process, waiting times may be longer than usual.

The VCC changed its operating hours. It opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m., seven days a week. After hours, customers may still sign in guests at the west gate. The sponsor must be registered in IACS to sign in visitors. Furthermore, ID card holders who forget their ID may also be searched in IACS and be granted base access.  For more information, visit ramsteinvisitorcenter.com

Office closures

KMC Housing Office and Furnishings Management Section will be closed Monday in observation of the holiday.  Customer service hours will resume Tuesday.

New office hours

Customer hours of the Furnishings Management Section changed as follows: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fridays.

Annual inventory

The 86th Munitions Squadron will conduct an annual 100 percent munitions stockpile inventory March 26 to 30. During this time, the munitions storage area will be closed to all account custodians; only emergency issue requests approved by the respective group commander may be submitted.  

Professional of the year

The 2017 Maintenance and Logistics Professional of the Year Banquet will be March 9 in the dual bay hangar, Bldg. 2018 on Ramstein Air Base. Social will begin at at 6 p.m., dinner is at 7. Cost is $5 for Airmen, $10 for NCOs and CGOs, and $15 for Senior NCOs and FGOs.

ROSC welcome coffee

The Ramstein Officers’ Spouses’ Club will sponsor a welcome coffee and conversation at 9 a.m. Thursday in the KMCC near Starbucks. Guests are welcome to purchase a coffee/tea or feel free to bring a drink from home.

Every guest is encouraged to bring a friend. Club members love to share information about upcoming ROSC socials and activities as well as fun travel tips.

Landstuhl offers guided tours

The tourist information office in Landstuhl is offering guided tours in English. Tour guides will be available to offer tours of the castle, the city and the Sickingen Museum. Donations needed

The German-American and International Women’s Club Kaiserslautern is asking for donations for its annual Pfennig Bazaar March 2 to 4 in the event hall of the Kaiserslautern Gartenschau. The club will accept donations such as clean clothes for men, women and children, household goods, books, toys, small electrical appliances, collectibles, bed linens and music media. Bulky items such as furniture, mattresses, skis and suitcases will not get accepted. Donations can be dropped off 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 20 and Feb. 3 in Hackstrasse 4 in Kaiserslautern. Units needed for blood drives
