The Kingfish recently attended the European Force Swimming League
Championship in Munich, and tucked away 34 gold, 27 silver, and 20 bronze
medals while routing the other 17 teams.

Heidelberg and SHAPE jumped out to early lead by taking the 100 and 200 meter freestyle events but couldn’t hold on as the Kingfish closed the gap with 200 meter freestyle wins from Drew Thomas (15) and Terri Plotkin (17). The Kingfish followed this up with first, second, and third place finishes when Mindy Pierce (17) and Erin Noyes (18) cornered the 17 to 19 girls 200 meter freestyle.

Mindy Pierce (17), Erin Noyes (18) and Sam Benito (17) took 4 out of 6 medals in the 17 to 19 girls backstroke, racking up significant points.

“Mindy Pierce cemented her reputation as the league’s premier backstroke
swimmer and I was pleased to see all her hard work pay off with a gold in her
favorite event. She had good power and perfect technique off the start and the turn. It was fun to watch,” said coach Bob Clinton.

Finishing her high school swimming career, Samantha Benito, who experienced shoulder problems throughout the year, dropped more than eight seconds to solidify a fourth place finish in the 100 meter fly.

In her final individual event of the meet and her high school career Terri Plotkin took her fifth gold of the meet and locked in the high point trophy.

“Terri has been a strong performer for the team over the last three seasons
and she will be missed,” said coach Clinton.

One of the most impressive Kingfish swims of the meet was turned in by Taylor Glass (13) in the 100 butterfly. She was an alternate and had the opportunity to swim when one of the girls from another team scratched her event. Taylor took that opportunity to swim her lifetime best, take the lead on the second 50 and win the gold.
