Scholarship for Outstanding Airmen to Reserve Officer Training Corps commissioning packages must be completed and turned in to Ramstein Education Center by COB Monday. The SOAR program is open to students in any academic major – normal ROTC programs are only open to technical majors. Attend the monthly commissioning briefing to find out the details in applying for this program.

Family Advocacy will host 1-2-3 Magic from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in Bldg. 2121’s first floor conference room. This class will focus on effective discipline for children, age 2 to 12. The Ramstein Education Center is sponsoring a combined Blood Drive and Education Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in Ramstein Bldg. 2104, Room 100. Individuals interested in giving blood can make an appointment to donate at www.militarylifeforce.com. Walk-ins are also welcome to donate blood. The University of Phoenix will be starting a new cohort for their graduate MBA program in late September. For details about eligibility requirements and enrolling in this program, call 480-8993/8994.

The Ramstein Education Center is running an Education Needs Assessment Survey in August and September. Everyone serviced by Ramstein in the KMC and surrounding areas is eligible to participate in the survey. This is an opportunity to share what you require to meet your personal and/or professional education goals.

Servicemembers and their dependents can now access the DOD MWR Libraries/Lifelong Learning Resource for CLEP and DSST test preparation, SAT subject test preparation, GED test preparation, high school success tips, paying for college, school searches, EMT preparation, resume building and more. The online resource can be viewed on the Air Force Virtual Education Center on the AF Portal under Peterson’s Air Force Education Resource Center.

Chapel news

The KMC chapter of the Military Council of Catholic Women will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Ramstein North Chapel. The theme for this month’s meeting is “Happy Birthday Blessed Mother.” The event will begin with the rosary, followed by a potluck dinner. Child care will be provided.

The Protestant Women of the Chapel will host their Fall Kick Off from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Kapaun Chapel. Fall studies will be introduced for the Ramstein, Vogelweh and Landstuhl studies, as well as this year’s PWOC national theme.  All women are invited to attend.  Child care will be provided and a light dinner will be served. The USAGK Chaplain’s Office hosts the Daenner Chapel Catholic Community Annual Parish Picnic and Outdoor Mass at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at Pulaski Park on Pulaski Barracks. Registration for religious education classes will take place during the picnic.
The USAGK Chaplain’s Office hosts a September 11 Prayer Remembrance 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at the garrison chapel on Daenner Kaserne. The 435th Air Base Wing Chapel is holding auditions for an April 2009 production of the Broadway musical Godspell. Auditions are open to all high school and college age ID cardholders, as well as First Term Airmen. Auditions for actors and musicians will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Ramstein South Chapel.
