Voted the ‘Most Beautiful Wine Festival 2017, this year’s festival goes under the motto ‘Three Summer Days in the Little Residence.’ Kirchheimbolanden warmly welcomes you to take a break behind historic walls and towers, and to explore charming courtyard arcades. At the widely known and popular festival, enjoy a pleasant atmosphere with various Palatinate specialties and delicacies, as well as a wide selection of regional and national wines. At this special wine festival, the wineries open their picturesque courtyards, and Bahnhofstraße turns into the “Woigass,” stretching from the train station to the historic market square. Along the “Woigass,” stalls offering wine and regional specialties invite you to linger. You’ll also find food stalls at the town square, and a stage offers a varied music program. Families are well catered for too: small rides and fairground stalls provide fun and entertainment. THE FASCINATION OF SPACE

AUG. 8, 2 P.M. TECHNIK MUSEUM, SPEYER

On Aug. 8 the museum welcomes NASA astronaut Mrk Lee. He will talk about his four space missions at the Forum cinema and take visitors on a fascinating journey into space. You can look forward to a special insight into his work, personal experiences from space, and moving stories from an astronaut. The speech is in English. Afterwards, he will answer questions from visitors. Children up to 14 can take a souvenir photo with him.

For three days, Palatinate wines will be offered at the winemakers’ stands. Matching food and a music program complete the event.

MIESENBACH KERWE (FUNFAIR)

Miesenbach will celebrate its annual funfair with a great program organized by the association “Miesenbacher Ereignis- & Traditionsverein”. From Friday through Monday visitors can look forward to musical entertainment, fun rides for children, candy, coffee and cakes, food and beverages. The fairground is located next to the sports field in Miesenbach.

SEMBACH XXL KERWE (VILLAGE FESTIVAL)

Once again small Sembach is putting on big village festival with live music, rides, lots of food and drinks, a parade on Sunday, and fun for young and old. German-American singer Yasmin will entertain the crowd, don’t miss out on the lively atmosphere and meet your neighbors.

BACKFISCHFEST (CITY FESTIVAL)

Every year at the end of August, Worms experiences nine days of extraordinary activity: that’s when the Backfischfest, the largest wine and folk festival on the Rhine, has both locals and the several thousand visitors from near and far completely in its grip. At the heart of this traditional festival is the Worms Fishermen’s Guild – one of the oldest guilds in Germany (founded in 1106). Every year, on the last Saturday in August, the ‘Bojemääschter vun de Fischerwääd’ (Mayor of the Fishermen’s Meadow) takes over official duties in the town hall, along with his Backfisch bride. The tour starts with a visit of the Count Palatinate Hall of the former Casimir Castle, where official receptions of the city are held today.
