RÖMERFEST (ROMAN FESTIVAL)

JULY 8-9, CITY CENTER, ALZEY

The city of Alzey is celebrating its 1800th anniversary of Roman history. On the weekend of July 8 and 9 the city will turn back into antique Rome with exciting events. There will be gladiator fights, raptor displays and theater performances in traditional costume. Lectures and hands-on activities, such as bone carving, a silver smith, and a Roman school will let you experience life in the Roman Empire almost two millenniums ago. In addition, there will be demonstrations about Roman hairstyles and fashion shows, a dedication of a temple, several Roman camps can be visited and a balista (a throwing machine) and riding performances will round off the event. Admission to the inner city events are free, a small admission fee will be charged at the castle and youth/culture center. KUCKUCKSKERWE (VILLAGE FEST)

JULY 8-11, VILLAGE CENTER, ENKENBACH

Enjoy a typical village fest with food and drink, live music and rides at various locations within the village center. A parade will take place on Sunday afternoon.

RAM(M)STEIN, RAMONES & LOIS LANE, SPECIAL EXHIBITION ON POP CULTURE

JULY 8, 2 P.M., DOCU CENTER, RAMSTEIN

Docu Center in Ramstein is opening a new special exhibition on pop culture. Seventy years of American presence and the air base also shaped the music scene. The exhibition takes a look at plots, lyrics and games, through which military installations became part of the so-called pop culture and will be displayed until Nov. 5.

LANDAUER SOMMER, ALTSTADTFEST (SUMMER FESTIVAL)

Experience a colorful summer festival with music, wine, feeling and enjoyment with sing and dance. The minigolf park at Gelterswoog offers concerts in varying styles every Saturday and Sunday during the summer. Some concerts are also planned on Friday evenings, check their Facebook page for details and times.

Landstuhl is celebrating 700 years of city rights in a colorful festival from Friday to Sunday. The Fest kicks off with the “Men in Blue,” a brass ensemble of the Rheinland-Pfalz Police Orchestra on Friday evening. Official ceremony and musical entertainment on Saturday and a parade will take place on Sunday afternoon. Don’t miss out on the fun and join Landstuhl celebrating the occasion.

RAMSTEIN SUMMER NIGHTS WITH “SUPERJAM & FRIENDS”

JULY 21, 7 P.M., CONGRESS CENTER RAMSTEIN

From mid-July until the end of August the series of the Ramstein Summer Nights will take place on an open-air stage at the Congress Center Ramstein each Friday evening. Each summer night will present a different band on stage. Admission is free – the events are standing concerts with a few non-reservable seats and bar tables available. Further dates: July 28, Aug. 5, 11 and 18.
