FREEDOM FESTIVAL – SCHWARZ-ROT-GOLD, JUNE 10 -12, HAMBACH SCHLOSSSTRASSE, NEUSTADT-HAMBACH

Step into history and enjoy the freedom festival at Hambach near Neustadt/Weinstraße.  The festival is based upon the historical Hambacher Fest in the year 1832, when the cry for national unity, democracy, civil freedom and freedom of the press was openly expressed and served as a milestone in the development of a democratic German nation. The Hambach Festival – Schwarz-Rot-Gold (black-red-gold, as the German flag) offers: Wine tasting, regional specialties, cultural events such as music, arts and theater for young and old, within the romantic Hambach Schlossstraße lined with historic buildings, courtyards, wineries and restaurants/pubs.  A special illumination concept will even enhance the atmosphere.  The three-day festival has a different theme every day. GERMAN-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP FEST, JUNE 10-12, JOHN F. KENNEDY PLATZ, RAMSTEIN

Enjoy music, entertainment with food and beverages. The USAREUR-AFRICA Band with the Soldiers’ Chorus will also offer musical entertainment.

SPRING FESTIVAL, JUNE 11-13, ABBEY CHURCH/HAUPTSTRASSE/FOREST, OTTERBERG

Since the mid 1750’s Otterberg has celebrated the Fruehlingsfest every two years. It takes place on the square in front of the Abbey Church and in the festively decorated main street. At 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, residents are woken up by loud shots, which is the starting signal for Music Club “Harmonie” to walk through the streets and invite residents to join. The highlight of the festival is the parade on Sunday at 2 p.m. with musicians and participants in historical costumes. The Spring Queen, riding in a decorated carriage drawn by black horses, and her court concludes the procession. Part of the festival, with food and beverage offerings, also takes place in a nearby forest area.

MEDIEVAL SPECTACLE, JUNE 11-12, MOSCHELLANDS CASTLE, OBERMOSCHEL

Experience musicians, jugglers, artisans, craftsmen, merchants and fight shows. Fun for young and old in the large encampment and a fire show on Saturday evening.

CONCERT WITH THE RHEINLAND-PFALZ INTERNATIONAL CHOIR, JUNE 11, OTTERBACH AND JUNE 12, ERZHueTTEN

Enjoy two concerts with the international choir. The first one is on June 11 at 5 p.m. in the Catholic Church in Otterbach. EXHIBITION 70 YEARS RAMSTEIN AIR BASE – THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW, JUNE 16-AUG 31, DOCU CENTER, RAMSTEIN

The history of Ramstein Air Base began with the first construction work in April 1951. August 2022 will mark the 70th anniversary of its commissioning. Since then, together with other US military facilities, it has moved and shaped an entire region and its people. Using carefully selected objects and photographs, the exhibition commemorates seven decades of the Air Base and the impact it has had on its surroundings. https://www.dc-ramstein.de

CORPUS CHRISTI DAY, JUNE 16, GERMAN HOLIDAY

Thursday, June 16 is a German holiday with a religious background. It is celebrated in the states of Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria, Hessen and Nordrhein-Westfalen. Stores as well as official offices will be closed. In some towns it is tradition to decorate village or church squares with colorful flower carpets.

ALTE WELT (OLD WORLD) CULINARY HIKE, JUNE 16, 10 A.M.-6 P.M., HEIMKIRCHEN-NIEDERKIRCHEN

SEEWOOG FESTIVAL, JUNE 17-19, SEEWOOG, MIESENBACH

JOHANNISMARKT (TOWN FESTIVAL), JUNE 18 -20, TOWN CENTER, WINNWEILER

RAMSTEIN ROADRUNNERS WALKING CLUB MEETING, 3RD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 7 P.M., RAMSTEIN-MIESENBACH

The Ramstein Roadrunners Walking Club offers guided walks throughout the year, the next meeting is on Jun 21. There are also two annual events: a Friendship Walk in May and the November Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. Both of these take place at Ramstein-Miesenbach, following the marked trails at your own pace. You can choose a trail length of 5, 10, 16 or 21 km.
