Thursday, June 8 is Corpus Christi Day, a holiday with a religious background. Some villages decorate their squares with hand laid colorful flower carpets or line the streets with birch branches. All stores and public holidays are closed in honor of the occasion.

GERMAN-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL

LANGE NACHT DER KULTUR (NIGHT OF CULTURE)

The long night of culture is one of the top highlights in Rheinland-Pfalz. There will be numerous events at over 25 sites throughout the city center. The night includes over 100 events from children’s activities on the afternoon to features into the wee hours of the morning. Events will take place in the Fruchthalle, Pfalztheater, museums, SWR radio studio, churches, movie theaters, the Japanese Garden and open-air stages around the city center. ALTSTADTFEST (CITY FESTIVAL)

Kaiserslautern’s popular city festival is back again! Enjoy several stages around the pedestrian zone and Steinstraβe, booths with handcraft, regional specialties and an assortment of drinks. The festival tends to be rather crowded on Fri and Sat evenings, but early birds may enjoy a relaxing concert with a German-American singer and her popular tunes at Martinsplatz on Sun morning starting 11 a.m.
