ALTSTADTFEST (CITY FESTIVAL)

JUNE 30-JULY 2, CITY CENTER, KAISERSLAUTERN

Kaiserslautern’s popular city festival is back again! Enjoy nine stages around the pedestrian zone and Steinstraβe with varying genres, booths with handcraft, regional specialties and an assortment of drinks. The festival tends to be rather crowded on Fri and Sat evenings, but early birds may enjoy a relaxing concert with a German-American singer and her popular tunes at Martinsplatz on Sun morning starting 11 a.m. For the full program, visit www.kaiserslautern.de.

OPEN-AIR CONCERTS AT GELTERSWOOG

SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, KAISERSLAUTERN

The minigolf park at Gelterswoog offers concerts in varying styles every Saturday and Sunday during the summer. Some concerts are also planned on Friday evenings, check their Facebook page for details and times.

15th KAISERSLAUTERN CLASSICS – FASCINATION OLDTIMERS

Shining chrome, curved lines, big eyes – Kaiserslautern’s classics are back in the city! Enjoy old timers, young timers, motorcycles and commercial vehicles, which will fascinate automobile and nostalgia fans alike. Enjoy automobile history in the city center and combine your visit with a shopping spree with an ice-cream dish or coffee break.

SECOND ANNUAL KAISERSLAUTERN COUNTY FAMILY DAY

JUNE 24, CONGRESS CENTER, RAMSTEIN-MIESENBACH

The Union Community of Ramstein-Miesenbach and the County of Kaiserslautern are organizing a day revolving around family, leisure and tourism. There will be indoor and outdoor displays, musical entertainment and lots of fun activities for kids.

TOUR IN ENGLISH, SICKINGEN AND NANSTEIN CASTLE

JUNE 25, 10 A.M., CANNON TOWER, CASTLE LANDSTUHL

The certified tourist guide Ulli Heist will offer a tour around Nanstein Castle “The Last Knight Franz von Sickingen and Nanstein Castle”. Learn about more than 500 years of history of the castle and hear stories about the last knight. In 2023 the city of Landstuhl is commemorating the 500th memorial of his death who died at Nanstein Castle in 1523. In good weather, visitors have a great view and they can get some additional information about the city (Landstuhl) in the valley. Registration is not required. The tour starts at 10 a.m. and lasts about 90 minutes. Meeting point for the tour is the cannon tower of the castle next to the parking lot.

OPEN GARDEN, STUDIO & CRAFTS DISPLAY

JUNE 25, 10 A.M-6 P.M., JETTENBACH/FURTHER TOWNS

RÖMERFEST (ROMAN FESTIVAL)

JULY 8 -9, CITY CENTER, ALZEY

The city of Alzey is celebrating its 1800th anniversary of Roman history. On the weekend of July 8 and 9 the city will turn back into antique Rome with exciting events. There will be gladiator fights, raptor displays and theater performances in traditional costume. Lectures and hands-on activities, such as bone carving, a silver smith, and a Roman school will let you experience life in the Roman Empire almost two millenniums ago. In addition, there will be demonstrations about Roman hairstyles and fashion shows, a dedication of a temple, several Roman camps can be visited and a balista (throwing machine) and riding performances will round off the event. Admission to the inner city events are free, a small admission fee will be charged at the castle and youth/culture center.
