2nd ANNUAL KAISERSLAUTERN COUNTY FAMILY DAY, JUNE 24, CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

CONGRESS CENTER, RAMSTEIN-MIESENBACH

The Union Community of Ramstein-Miesenbach and the County of Kaiserslautern are organizing a day revolving around family, leisure and tourism on June 24.

The organizers cordially invite any interested groups in the Kaiserslautern Military Community to join in the fun events and present themselves with booths, information, games and displays.

Organizations or clubs that would like to participate can contact joachimfelka@gmail.com (English spoken) for more information. The day’s events will include booths of various institutions, organizations, clubs and tourism as well as foosball, billiards, ping-pong tables and ball games. The outdoor area will be dedicated to an active participation program for children and teens, along with culinary delights and a musical program.

The Japanese Garden in Kaiserslautern opened its gates to visitors on weekends.ö Enjoy a relaxed wintery atmosphere on Fridays and Saturdays. The tea house with a cozy reading corner looks forward to welcoming guests. The garden will resume regular opening hours on April 1.

The Stammtisch, an informal get-together, aims at facilitating the local German-American exchange and provides a recurring forum for Americans and locals to meet and get to know each other. ABTEIKIRCHENKONZERT, (CHURCH CONCERT), March 12, 5 P.M.

ABTEIKIRCHE, OTTERBERG

The first concert in 2023 in the impressive Abteil Church will present a German requiem by Johannes Brahms. The Chamber Philharmonie Mannheim will perform with solo artists Noemi Sohn, soprano, and Klaus Mertens, baritone, accompanied by the choir of the Versöhnungkirche. Classic fans will adore this requiem in seven parts.

“FRÜHLINGSERWACHEN” (MARCH MARKET SPRING COMES TO LIFE), March 12, 1 P.M.

CITY CENTER, KIRCHHEIMBOLANDEN

The market invites visitors to shop on Sunday, welcome the first colors of spring and enjoy a coffee in rays of sunshine. A creative market with handmade goods will take place in the historic district and children are invited to the bouncy castle and a carousel.

EVENING MARKET, MARCH 16, 4-9 P.M.

PARADEPLATZ, GERMERSHEIM

Various booths will offer regional and international products as well as food and beverages, some in bite-size. Bring your picnic blanket and enjoy a relaxed evening with live music. The evening market will take place every third Thursday a month and guests from near and far are cordially welcome to get a glimpse of the fortress city along the Rhein River.

KAISERSLAUTERN CITY TOUR IN ENGLISH, March 18, 11:15 A.M.

The tourist information is offering guided English tours of the ruins of Casimir Castle, the Count Palatinate Hall and the 70-meter long underground tunnels. Further tours will be offered once a month until Nov. The meeting place is the Tourist Information next to the Fruchthalle and the tour takes about 1.5 hours. LÄTAREUMZUG (PARADE), MARCH 19, 2 P.M.

CITY CENTER, LANDAU

The traditional Lätare Parade, which takes place three Sundays prior to Easter will wind its way through the streets of Landau. The colorful parade will start in front of the city hall and end at the large market square. A Hansel thimble game (finger puppets) will be presented, followed by the burning of winter, including a snowman. This tradition is unique to the region along the Deutsche Weinstraβe (German wine road), so don’t miss out on this extraordinary event in Germany!

LAUTERN BLÜHT AUF (SPRING MARKET), MARCH 25-26

CITY CENTER KAISERSLAUTERN

Experience Kaiserslautern blooming again in spring. Shops and restaurants/cafés in the pedestrian zone have planned a colorful program with concerts, artists and walking acts. Shops will be open from 1 – 6 p.m. on Sunday. Come and spring into spring!
