RHEINLAND-PFALZ-TAG/STATE FAIR 2022, MAY 20–22, CITY CENTER/RHEINUFER, MAINZ

The annual Rheinland-Pfalz State Fair is scheduled for Friday, May 20 to Sunday, May 22 in Mainz and includes several displays throughout the city center. Individual towns and cities will showcase their communities and there will be live music on various stages. A joint armed forces display area will also showcase the German Armed Forces, the U.S. Army 529th Military Police Company with a tactical MP vehicle, and the 421st Medical Battalion (Multifunctional) with medical equipment and their diesel dog. Ramstein Air Base will join the festivities with participation from the 86th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department, the 786th Civil Engineer Squadron, Emergency Management Services, and the Innovation Lab. A parade will take place on Sunday, May 22 at 1. p.m. with 70 floats and walking groups as well as USAFE Band participation. KAISERSLAUTERN COUNTY FAMILY DAY, JUNE 25, 11 A.M. 6 P.M., ccr, RAMSTEIN

Enjoy a day with family fun for kids and teens. The day’s events will include booths of various institutions, organizations, clubs and tourism as well as foosball, billiards, ping-pong tables and ball games. The outdoor area will be dedicated to an active participation program, along with culinary delights and a musical program.

MAIKERWE – MAY CARNIVAL, MAY 20–30, MESSEPLATZ, KAISERSLAUTERN

Enjoy rides, live music in the fest tents, food and drink, cotton candy and sweets, family fun at the largest carnival in the area. Family Day is on Wed, May 25, with reduced prices for rides. Sunday shopping in Kaiserslautern on May 22.

EUROPE FEST, MAY 21, 11 A.M.–5 P.M., CCR/MARKTPLATZ, RAMSTEIN

This festival includes music, food and beverages with participants from Ramstein-Miesenbach’s sister cities Maxéville, France, Balatonlelle, Hungary and Rota, Spain.

Ascension Day, May 26, German Federal Holiday

Thursday, May 26, is a German federal holiday with a religious background, it marks the day that Christ ascended to heaven. Stores as well as official offices will be closed.

The day is also commonly celebrated as German “Father’s Day” with young folks pulling wagons full of food and beverages throughout the countryside.

GERMAN-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIIP FEST, JUNE 10-12, JOHN F. KENNEDY PLATZ, RAMSTEIN

Enjoy music, entertainment with food and beverages. The USAREUR-AFRICA Band with the Soldiers’ Chorus will also offer musical entertainment.

SPRING FESTIVAL, JUNE 11–13, ABBEY CHURCH/HAUPTSTRAssE/FOREST, OTTERBERG

Since the mid 1750’s Otterberg has celebrated the Frühlingsfest every two years. It takes place on the square in front of the Abbey Church and in the festively decorated main street. At 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, residents are woken up by loud shots, which is the starting signal for Music Club “Harmonie” to walk through the streets and invite residents to join. The highlight of the festival is the parade on Sunday at 2 p.m. with musicians and participants in historical costumes. The Spring Queen, riding in a decorated carriage drawn by black horses, and her court concludes the procession. Part of the festival, with food and beverage offerings, also takes place in a nearby forest area.

MEDIEVAL SPECTACLE, JUNE 11 – 12, MOSCHEL-LANDSburg CASTLE, OBERMOSCHEL

Experience musicians, jugglers, artisans, craftsmen, merchants and fight shows. Fun for young and old in the large encampment and a fire show on Saturday evening.

SEEWOOG FESTIVAL, JUNE 17 – 19, SEEWOOG, MIESENBACH

Enjoy fun activities, games and music around the lake with food and beverages.

LONG NIGHT OF CULTURE, JUNE 24, 7.P.M.–JUNE 26, 3 A.M., CULTURE CENTERS/PEDESTRIAN ZONE, KAISERSLAUTERN

Kaiserslautern’s cultural centers will open for a long night of culture “Lange Nacht der Kultur” with music, art and entertainment for families in the afternoon and for adults with events up to shortly prior to sunrise. Over 100 individual programs are scheduled at 25 different locations. Events will take place at various locations within and around the pedestrian zone.
