Talented regional artists and artisans will present their unique, handmade creations. The market builds on the tradition of the former herb market and will be further developed this year into a versatile meeting place for arts and crafts lovers. Over 30 stallholders have already registered to present a diverse range of regional crafts and arts and crafts. There will also be plenty of culinary delights: look forward to regional specialties and delicious treats that will make your visit a true pleasure. The May Market invites you to stroll, shop, and enjoy the second shopping Sunday of the year. The shops in Kirchheimbolanden’s downtown will showcase their best side, presenting the latest fashion, the chicest cars, and highlighting special services. A creative market will take place in the old town, restaurants will serve culinary delights, and children can enjoy the bouncy castle and carousel. KONZERT IM VOLKSPARK

Beginning of a series of outdoor concerts in Volkspark with alternating genres. Classic, but also catchy tunes to traditional music will be offered every second Sunday morning. Further dates: May 25, June 8 and 22, July 6 and 20, Aug. 3, 17, 31, Sep. 14.

KEINE GNADE FÜR DIE WADE (NO MERCY  ON YOUR CALVES) MOUNTAIN BIKE TOUR,

MAY 11, 9.30 A.M., TRAIN STATION, WINNWEILER

Participants can look forward to a 60-kilometer route, mastering 1,280 meters in altitude. The route goes from Hahnweilerhof to Keltengarten up to Donnersberg. Downwards towards the Dampfnudelrock via Dannenfels towards Bastenhaus, Drosselfels and back to the Keltengarten, and finally ending at the starting point. Due to constant ups and downs, good condition is necessary, helmet and gloves are required and cyclist glasses are recommended. Cost per person is Euro 8. GEO-TOUR „MINING AROUND STAHLBERG”

Archaeological highlights and rocks formed over millions of years are waiting to be discovered. Tour guide Karlheinz Fisch invites you on an exciting journey through the eventful mining history of the small town of Stahlberg. This interesting tour focuses on silver and “water silver” mining and takes participants from the Middle Ages to the present day. The two-hour tour starts at 2:00 at the “Frischer Mut” hiking parking lot (Stahlberg). The fee is €6.00 for adults and €2.00 for children between 7 and 16 years. KINDERGRAVES CEREMONY

MAY 17, 10–12 A.M., DAENNER CHAPEL/MAIN CEMETARY KAISERSLAUTERN

Each spring following Mother’s Day, a memorial ceremony is sponsored by the Kaiserslautern Kindergraves Memorial Foundation in cooperation with the Kaiserslautern Military Community and Kaiserslautern city officials. Floral wreaths are placed at the front monument and a candle lighting ceremony takes place in memory of the 452 children buried there. A flower and an American flag are placed at each grave marker and anyone interested is welcome to attend the ceremony.

“CIRCLE” CONCERT, RHEINLAND-PFALZ

INTERNATIONAL CHOIR

MAY 17, 6 P.M., CATHOLIC CHURCH MARIA HIMMELFAHRT, OTTERBACH

A diverse mix of moving sacred works, traditional spirituals and gospels, as well as well-known pop classics in a new guise. The program takes you through various eras and styles, combining classical masterpieces with modern arrangements. The motto “Circle” is inspired by our opening song, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.” It symbolizes the community of the choir, from whose midst come the instrumental support of the program and the numerous solo performances. Enjoy an evening full of musical diversity! Admission is free.

KINDERFEST IN DER CITY

MAY 17, 10 A.M.–4 P.M., CITY CENTER, KAISERSLAUTERN

A children’s festival in the city center or the perfect day out for the whole family. The city center will transform into a giant adventure playground that will make the hearts of even the youngest ones beat faster. “Rumble, join in, and have fun” is the motto of the member businesses, who have once again come up with plenty of ideas to inspire the kids. Boredom has no chance when face painting is on the agenda or the little ones storm the bouncy castle. When the instrument mile invites you to join in and craft activities challenge your creative side. While children roam the city center, always looking for exciting things to do, adults can enjoy attractive retail offerings and dining establishments in a spring atmosphere.

RHEINLAND-PFALZ-TAG 2025 (STATE FAIR)

MAY 23–25, CITY CENTER, NEUSTADT/WEINSTRASSE

The biennial State Fair is taking place in Neustadt/Weinstrasse this year, where the city is also celebrating 750 years of city rights. Festivities start on Friday afternoon and run through Sunday. The 86th Airlift Wing will participate with a Robodog display on Saturday at “Platz der Streikräfte” (military display area), along with armored vehicles from 21 TSC and the Bundeswehr. There will be smaller parades throughout town all weekend, a family day with children’s activities on Sunday, and cultural and scenic displays of communities in Rheinland-Pfalz. Visitors are advised to best take a train from the KMC.

MAIKERWE (CARNIVAL)

MAY 23–JUNE 2, MESSEPLATZ, KAISERSLAUTERN

Once again, the Messeplatz is host to the largest carnival and fair in the region. Rides for kids and adults, food and drinks, fun for the family and music in the fest tents. Sunday shopping on May 25, fireworks will round off the eleven fun-filled days on Monday, June 2 at about 9.30 p.m.

THAI FESTIVAL

MAY 24–25, KOCHSCHEN MARKT, KUSEL

Also new is the Thai festival, which will take place on May 24 and 25 at the Kochschen Markt and which will also be organized by an external organizer from the district. According to Mayor Heß, visitors can expect Thai specialties with various levels of spiciness. There are also dance and martial arts demonstrations.
