PUMPKIN EXHIBITION

With around 40,000 pumpkins of all kinds, 11 unique works of art were created at this year’s pumpkin exhibition under the theme “Dinosaurs.” Famous dinos like the Diplodocus, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops are included. The setup team attached each individual pumpkin to wooden and wire frameworks. To give the figures their colors, different pumpkins were used. Colors range from white to the classic orange decorative pumpkins, all the way to blue pumpkins.

BACKFISCHFEST (CITY FESTIVAL)

Every year at the end of August, Worms experiences nine days of extraordinary activity: that’s when the Backfischfest, the largest wine and folk festival on the Rhine, has both locals and the several thousand visitors from near and far completely in its grip. At the heart of this traditional festival is the Worms Fishermen’s Guild – one of the oldest guilds in Germany (founded in 1106). Every year, on the last Saturday in August, the ‘Bojemääschter vun de Fischerwääd’ (Mayor of the Fishermen’s Meadow) takes over official duties in the town hall, along with his Backfisch bride. The official opening of the fair starts with the tapping of the beer keg on Friday. Old and young can enjoy carnival rides and attractions. Numerous booths offer candy, food and beverages as well as various other products and items. Live music entertainment is presented by different bands each day. On Saturday at 3 p.m. a big festival parade will lead through town. Stores are open for Sunday shopping from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday is family day with reduced prices for fun rides. The highlight is fireworks display on Tuesday at approx. 9.30 p.m.

STADTFEST LANDSTUHL 2026

Landstuhl is celebrating its 36th city festival with live music, food and beverages in a cozy atmosphere. Friday kicks off the festival weekend with the tapping of the keg with live music on three stages. Along Kaiserstraße and around the event areas, numerous stalls invite you to eat, drink, and linger. The program booklet lists 36 food and beverage stalls with a wide variety of drinks and dishes. In addition, there are 14 stalls offering trade goods and handicrafts, perfect for browsing and discovering. The wine village at Alten Markt is also once again part of the city festival atmosphere. Here, you can enjoy the musical program while relaxing and taking in the view of Nanstein Castle. Shopping on Sunday, the shops in Landstuhl will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a special shopping Sunday. This offers the chance to combine the city festival with some shopping while supporting local businesses.
BAD DÜRKHEIMER WURSTMARKT

The Bad Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt is the biggest wine festival in the world and will take place over two weekends in September. The Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt is a folk festival over 600 years old. Each year, more than 600,000 people visit the festival, which is known for its wheelbarrow stalls, over 300 regional wines, and its diverse program. Train travel is recommended to visitors from the KMC.

PUMPKIN EXHIBITION

Blühendes Barock Ludwigsburg will once again transform into a colorful pumpkin paradise. This year’s theme, “LET’S PLAY”, celebrates fun, games, and imagination. Thousands of pumpkins will be crafted into elaborate sculptures, forming well-known figures like Super Mario, Barbie, and an XXL rocking horse. The exhibition invites visitors of all ages to marvel, explore, and participate. In addition to the impressive pumpkin sculptures, guests can enjoy culinary delights such as the famous pumpkin soup, pumpkin ravioli, and pumpkin sparkling wine. Events including the Pumpkin Battle Festival, Pumpkin Carving Festival, Pumpkin Weighing Championships, and Pumpkin Regatta provide further entertainment. The exhibition ends in early November, but some pumpkin figures will remain on display until early December as part of the Leuchtende Traumpfade (Illuminated Dream Paths).

Oktoberfest 2026, the world’s largest folk festival, will take place in Munich featuring 16 days of Bavarian culture, beer, music, and traditional celebrations. Oktoberfest is a historic festival held annually in Munich, Germany, celebrating Bavarian culture, food, music, and beer. The first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 to honor the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Over the years, it has grown into the world’s largest folk festival, attracting millions of visitors from around the globe. Train travel or package tours are recommended for visitors from the KMC.
