Bad DÜRKHEIM WURSTMARKT (WINE FEST)

SEP. 8-12, 15-18, FESTPLATZ, BAD DÜRKHEIM

Experience the world’s largest wine fest at picturesque Bad Dürkheim next to the world’s largest wine barrel. Hundreds of vendors will sell their crafts, clothes and decoration items. There will be food and drink and lots of wine in a large tent with live music and in rows of small cozy and family-run winery run huts. Exciting rides for youngsters and adults alike invite guests to a grand time. Make sure to have a plan when drinking alcohol and a safe way to get home. Visitors are advised that special trains will be offered on both weekends leaving from Kaiserslautern/Landstuhl and tour operators offer bus tours to the event. STADTFEST LANDSTUHL

KÜRBISAUSSTELLUNG ”UNTERWASSERWELT“ (PUMPKIN EXHIBITION)

SEP. 1-OCT. 31, GARTENSCHAU, KAISERSLAUTERN

This year’s pumpkin exhibition will feature an “underwater world” with from an over-dimensional shark head to Ariel the mermaid up to Sponge Bob. Ten of thousands of hand carved pumpkins will be on display and turn the park into one wonderful fall landscape. An ecumenical service will take place in the willow church on Sep. 17 at 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m. the Palatinate pumpkin weighing contest will take place, where the heaviest and the most beautiful pumpkin will be awarded. OKTOBERFEST

SEP. 16-OCT. 3, THERESIENWIESE, MUNICH

The world’s largest beer fest is scheduled to start with the parade of the brewery horses and tapping of the keg on Sat. 16. Large tents with music and Bavarian Händl (rotary chicken), a multitude of exciting rides, vendors, food, drinks and sweets invite international guests to 17 days of lively Bavarian spirit. IONTACH: IRISH MUSIC UNLIMITED

SEP. 22, 8-10 P.M., STIFTSKIRCHE, KAISERSLAUTERN

The band consisting of three renowned musicians from Ireland are not only great vocalists, but offer an array of instruments such as flutes, violins, Irish bagpipes, guitars, bouzouki, cello, keyboards and bodhran. The group is one of the most popular and humoristic formations of the Irish music scene.

Enjoy Germany’s second largest beer fest with exciting rides, giant beer tents, vendors, food and drink. The fest is somewhat smaller than Oktoberfest in Munich and more relaxed. DEUTSCHES WEINLESEFEST (WINE HARVEST FEST)

SEP. 22-OCT 9, NEUSTADT AN DER WEINSTRASSE

Make sure to visit Germany’s second largest wine fest in Neustadt. The fest offers excellent wines, local specialties, rides, vendors and crowning of the German wine queen on Oct 6. The highlight of the event will take place on Sun, Oct 8 with a colorful parade. Visitors are recommended to use trains from Kaiserslautern while enjoying a relaxing ride through the beautiful autumn colored valley. Enjoy a wide selection of regional products made of chestnuts!
