The U.S. Army Soldier Show is a professionally choreographed,
family-style variety show featuring performances that span from
Broadway musicals, to country, gospel, R&B and top 40 songs.

More than 500 Soldiers, family members and Department of Defense civilians and retirees experienced this superb, high energy, 90 minute performance in the Vogelweh Fitness Center 24 May.

“The Soldier Show is always a crowd pleaser for the community and offers something for everyone,” said Jim Sohre, the garrison’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation entertainment director, who played a big part in helping organize the event in Kaiserslautern. “Although we had a last minute venue change from the Galaxy movie theater to the Vogelweh Fitness Center, community support in making the performance happen was nothing short of outstanding.”

Mr. Sohre added that with the excellent cooperation from the fitness center and MWR staffs, everything was set up and ready for the 7 p.m. show.
This year’s sponsors were the Army G-1’s Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention Program and the Army G-3/5/7’s Comprehensive Soldier Fitness Program. Sgt. Daniel Bullock opened the show with the SHARP “I am Strong” song, “We Stand.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with Soldiers and send out a powerful message through music to help combat against sexual assault,” Sergeant Bullock said.

After a long day of set-up, vocal warm-up, physical warm-up, mike check and the preset of clothes, the 22 performers were ready for their high energy, 90 minute performance. When asked how they found the energy and the motivation for the 150 performances in 53 locations, Staff Sgt. KaMesha Edwards said, “We motivate each other, stay positive, enjoy the privilege to be in the show, and lean on senior leaders who lead by example.”

This is how they made it through their long days that usually started at
5 a.m. and lasted late into the night when the audience had long gone home and the Soldiers were still loading everything back into the truck for their
next performance.
