USAFE summer concert series begins

***image1***The U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band will hold three special “Summer Concert Series” performances free of charge at Ramstein’s Donnelly Park for servicemembers and their families.
“This is a great opportunity for families and children of all ages to come out and experience great American music and celebrate each other’s patriotism,” said Maj. Scott Guidry, commander of the USAFE Band.
The “Check Six” jazz ensemble will start the series June 25, featuring the best in American and Latin jazz from yesterday and today. The “Touch ‘n Go” popular music ensemble will follow July 23 featuring pop, country and rock ‘n roll hits. The “USAFE Concert Band” will conclude the series Aug. 27, featuring an old-fashioned, family-oriented patriotic concert in the style of “Boston Pops.”
“Performing for troops and their families is probably our most favorite thing to do,” said Major Guidry. “This is a great way for us to interact with the KMC on a personal basis and to support all of the families in the KMC in a relaxed, festive atmosphere.”
“These concerts aren’t only for families, they’re for single servicemembers too,” said Senior Master Sgt. Fred Brunz, superintendent of the USAFE Band. “Come listen to world-class, top-notch performers playing music that will bring a touch of home to everyone.”
All concerts will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and everyone is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and picnic supplies. (Courtesy of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band)
