***image1***The Hitscherhof farm holds its annual farm fest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event features a farmers’ market, arts and crafts market and corn maze.

More than 50 vendors present their goods. Visitors can buy agricultural and homemade goods such as honey, wurst, dairy products, goat cheese, eggs, noodles, bread, vegetables, fruit, wine, schnapps, liquors and juices. The Hitscherhof farm specializes in pumpkins and sweet corn, which are also available for sale.

The arts and crafts vendors sell pottery, dolls, tin toys, paintings, postcards, candles, dried flower bouquets, wooden items, antique furniture, household items, garden accessories, ceramic figures and jewelry.

The corn maze offers a walk through its narrow and cut-off paths. Children can explore a hay maze and pumpkin meadow.

Fest visitors can taste a variety of food such as schwenksteaks, bratwurst, pumpkin soup, waffles and cakes. Another specialty is “Flammkuchen,” similar to a pizza but thinner and covered with onions, bacon and sour cream. It usually is served with “Federweisser,” which is known as new wine, a half-fermented substance somewhere between grape juice and wine. It contains some alcohol and a lot of glucose.

The Hitscherhof is located between Thaleischweiler and Rieschweiler. Take autobahn A62 from Landstuhl south to the exit of Thaleischweiler-Fröschen. After exiting, go west toward Riesch-weiler. Before reaching Riesch-weiler, turn right to Hitscherhof.
