Headquarters commander, received the Air Force Association’s inaugural
Senator Ted Stevens leadership award at Aviano Air Base, Italy.

While Air Force Association Chairman of the Board Pat Condon announced
the honor at the AFA’s annual Air and Space Conference last fall,
Senator Stevens personally presented the award to General Moorhead Feb.
20 during a Congressional delegation visit to the base in northern
Italy.

“This award is a testament to the men and women of 16th Air Force,”
said General Moorhead. “It’s quite an honor to have received this
award, but it would not have been possible without the work that we’ve
all done together over the past year.”

The award recognizes a senior level numbered air force leader who has
demonstrated exemplary leadership through exemplary performance,
according to the Air Force Association.

The award is presented in the name of Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska – a
long standing national leader and strong supporter of the Air Force.

As U.S. European Command’s “Warfighting Headquarters,” 16th Air Force
is responsible for supporting the EUCOM commander’s strategic
objectives across the full range of military operations.

16th Air Force works in concert with U.S. Air Forces in Europe in
directing all air force operations within the EUCOM AOR during
contingencies or wartime.
