The Gartenschau Kaiserslautern sponsors its annual French garden party starting at 6 p.m. today. Visitors can bring their own picnic basket and taste French culinary specialties and wines. • “Halka,” a Polish opera by Stanislaw Moniuszko, in German,

• The Pfalztheater Orchestra presents it fourth Pfalztheater concert taking the audience on a trip through Europe’s history, 7 p.m. Saturday.

• “Rigoletto,” an opera by Guiseppe Verdi, in Italian, 6 p.m. Sunday.

Besides enjoying an entertaining program for young and old, visitors can experience how logging and the drifting of timber worked about 160 years ago. Drifting timber is the transportation of wood on water. Demonstrations are at 1 and 3:30 p.m. There is no parking near the pond. Visitors should park in Frankenstein and take the free shuttle bus from the train station or in Waldleiningen and board the shuttle at the cemetery.
