Wheelchair basketball in Kaiserslautern

The next match of the 1. FCK Rolling Devils takes place Saturday in Kaiserslautern. This is the quarterfinal of this year’s DRS Cup.

The Rolling Devils, who participated this season for the first time in the German league (Regionalliga), managed to qualify for the quarterfinals through sensational victories against teams from the first and second division. Because of these victories, the Rolling Devils belong, for the first time, to the group of the best eight teams in Germany.

In the upcoming match, the FCK Rolling Devils will face off against the Mainhatten SkyWheelers (a first league team), and the Rolling Devils wheelchair basketball team from Kaiserslautern needs your support.

The game takes place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the sports hall of the Technical University in Kaiserslautern (Paul-Ehrlich-Straße Geb 28, 67663 Kaiserslautern).
DJ Tower and the Kaiserslautern Pikes’ cheerleaders will also be in attendance. Admission to the game is free.

Furthermore, the Rolling Devils invite anyone who is interested — disabled or not disabled — to try out for wheelchair basketball themselves. Sports wheelchairs will be provided.

Training for those who are interested takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday in the gymnasium of the Technical University in Kaiserslautern.
Wheelchair basketball stands for dynamism, speed and body control and is still considered to be the most popular sport for wheelchair users.

Wheelchair basketball is a team sport and discipline of the Paralympics as well as European and world championships.

In Germany for some time now, people who are not disabled have been playing the game, which affects the integration of disabled people in society in a very positive way.

The rules are largely those of normal basketball.
