Wingman has holiday success

Brig. Gen. Rosanne Bailey
435th Air Base Wing and KMC commander

***image1***Welcome back! I’d like to thank you all for your support and dedication to our newest program, Combat Wingman. Prior to the holidays we pushed hard to remind everyone of the need to take care of one another. Through commander’s calls, innovative displays and face-to-face contact we made sure that everyone would be taken care of properly. I’m proud to announce this effort was a huge success during the holidays. Everyone made it back safely and we saw very few DUIs in the two-week period. I applaud your efforts and attention to looking out for one another. However, we have had seven since Jan. 1, which shows success is temporary without effort. Combat Wingman contributes to mission success by increasing our awareness of those around us.

Although commanders and supervisors always look out for their people, attention by leadership alone can’t do it. “Taking care of our people” is up to you – it is individual responsibility.

We specifically emphasized the importance of Combat Wingman over this past holiday season, but we must not let our guard drop. Looking out for your Wingman is a duty of honor that endures throughout the year. I ask that each of you remain vigilant. Again, welcome back, Happy New Year, and isn’t it time to check in with your wingman?
