Women’s club sponsors annual fundraiser

The German-American and International Women’s Club Kaiserslautern will hold its annual Pfennig Bazaar from March 5 to 7 at the Burgherrenhalle in Kaiserslautern-Hohenecken.

“Put on your walking shoes and get ready to shop for bargains galore,” said bazaar chairwoman Pamela Miod. “Antiques, small furniture, house wares, electrical appliances, artwork, books, a special piece of china or crystal and many other unique treasures are waiting for shoppers.”

The Pfennig Bazaar is known as the biggest flea market in the Westpfalz. Proceeds will go back to the community.

“Last year, we donated a total of €25,200 to 28 organizations, including the Fisher House, Wounded Warriors Center, United Service Organizations and the Kaisers-lautern Kindergraves Memorial Foundation,” Mrs. Miod said. “We also supported local schools and the Kaiserslautern Youth Center.“

The biggest donation, €8,000, was given to the Kaiserslautern Tafel, an organization that passes out food to needy people. The donation helped them buy a new vehicle with refrigeration system.

Donations, such as clothes, household items, toys and books, can still be dropped off at the event location, Burgherrenhalle on Forstrasse 2a, 67661 Kaiserslautern-Hohenecken, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.

“Hungry shoppers can taste some delicious homemade desserts, which will be for sale in the hall,” Mrs. Miod said. “Donations of baked goods for shopping days will be mostly appreciated.”

Shopping hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 5, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 6 and 7. For more information, visit the club’s Web site at  www.gaiwc.com.
