Children enjoy Halloween activities in Zweibruecken, which start 9 a.m. Saturday and 5:30 p.m. Monday in the center of town.

Zweibruecken will celebrate its traditional Halloween spectacle with activities Saturday and Monday. The event includes a fashion show, costume contest, pumpkin carving, a monster parade, dance performances, fire juggling and food specialties Monday in the center of town.

Activities will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday on Schlossplatz. Children can have their faces painted for free. Children can register for a monster fashion show and present their costumes at 10 a.m. in front of the Schloss. The first prize winner will receive two tickets for Europa Park. The Forest Youth Group will ask children to participate in pumpkin carving and taste pumpkin soup at noon.

Monday, activities will start at 5:30 p.m. on Hallplatz near the fountain with a performance by the dance group Traumzeit. Scary figures accompanied by musicians and people in costumes will then walk in a monster parade to Schlossplatz. Firefighters of the local youth fire brigade will take part with torches. The German Red Cross will offer “bloody fingers,” hot dogs with ketchup as well as punch.

A fire magician will show off his skills at 6:15 p.m. in front of the Schloss (palace) and a fireworks display will be lit on the grounds. Another attraction will be the Tam-Tam magic performance.

Children can participate in scary tests of courage. The local German Child Protection Association will present a monster show at
4 p.m. in its tent.

A photographer of a local newspaper will go around and take photos of persons in original costumes and with nicely painted faces from 5 to 9 p.m. The 20 best costumes will be published in the newspaper.
