The 1st Combat Communications Squadron opened their new building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 26.

The new building, Bldg. 2251, will be home to two 1st CBCS flights and leadership offices of the 86th Air and Space Communications Group. It is expected to hold around 140 people.

Their old buildings were getting older and harder to maintain, therefore, they are being demolished to make room for the new flightline ramp projects. The projects are expanding flightline ramps in order to accommodate the Rhein-Main closure.

The €12 million building, which is isolated on the other side of the flightline, was the first phase of a two-phase project. It gives 1st CBCS their own warehouse and classrooms, and has an armory which is still waiting for certification.
