Saturday and Sunday, Kaiserslautern’s advertising association, “Kaiser in Lautern,” will offer a spring market combined with a car exhibition and Sunday shopping. Co-sponsored by the city of Kaiserslautern, the event aims to say good-bye to winter and promote local businesses.

St. Patrick’s Day honors first Irish Christian missionary

The Irish celebrate a national and religious holiday today — St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a day to honor Ireland’s first Christian missionary. March 17 is also an official holiday in Northern Ireland, the British overseas territory of Montserrat and the Canadian province of Newfoundland. But even in many other countries, Irish emigrants and even non-Irish celebrate the day with festivals, parades and other events.

Mountain run to castle in Landstuhl
The running club LLG Landstuhl starts its 20th Nanstein Mountain Run at 3 p.m. Saturday from Sickingensporthalle, Kaiserstrasse 128 in Landstuhl, uphill to Nanstein Castle. Starting fee is €7 for adults and €3 for students. For details, visit www.llg-landstuhl.de.
