During the culinary hike in Wolfstein participants get to sit down for a break and taste different food specialties and wines.

Editor’s Note: This article was published in a previous edition of the Kaiserslautern American and the information has been updated to reflect this year’s event.

After the amazing culinary hike last year in Wolfstein we are very proud to inform you about our hiking tour on Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m. and Sunday April 28, 10 a.m., this year.

Wolfstein is very famous for its watchable migratory routes. The hiking route is called “Panoramaweg” (panorama path), where you will have a wonderful view around Wolfstein, the “Lautertal-Valley” and the big Königsberg Massiv, one of the highest mountains in the northern palatinate area.

This year there will also be traditional local heroes like in the last years, for example Hotel Königsberg and Eventcatering Fröhlich, who will spoil you with culinary delights like the popular salmon from the Kota-grill or the Mediterranean redwine meat and dumplingslices with mushroom sauce.

Another highlight of this year’s hike are the Schottlers Genussreich from Dennenfels who serve tasty Beef- and Saumagenburgers – traditional palatinate style. You know Big Boys Barbeque from the other culinary hikes? He bribes with smoked and pulled pork in original American barbeque sauce, simmering over 20 hours! The ski club of Wolfstein considered something special beside their culinary offer of curd and lard sandwiches from own production. Together with „Kitzmann little tobacconist’s shop“ from they organized a “Smokers Lounge” at their club area!

Wine producers from some of the Palatinate’s and Rinehessens best-known wine regions will present their favorite wines and Seccos (German sparkling wine). In the exquisite circle of the attended wine-growers you will find winery Holz Weisbrodt from Weisenheim, winery Baum-Storzum, winery Wolf and many more.

Wine pass:

If you acquire a wine-pass at the beginning of the event, you’ll also get your personal wine glass. With the pass and the glass combined every vintner will fill it up with the wine you can choose for only 2,00 € for 0,1 l or 3,50 € for 0,2 l per filling. On this way, you can shape your very personal wine-tasting. Moreover, the wine-tasting glass is a great souvenir and furthermore you can participate on a raffle where you can win cool prizes. If you don’t drink wine or alcohol, you won’t need a Wine pass.

Starting point of the hike is the city hall in the middle of Wolfstein.
