86 AW completes first NPC-L patient movement

Airmen assigned to the 86th Airlift Wing load various in-flight kits onto a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft at Ramstein Air Base, Feb. 4. The kits include medical supplies, patient comfort items and personal protection equipment. The NPC-L fits into the cargo compartment of C-130Js, and is designed to transport individuals with COVID-19 or other highly infectious diseases while preventing the aircrew and medical professionals onboard from exposure.

 

Airmen assigned to the 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Critical Care Air Transport Team and 37th Airlift Squadron inspect the inside of a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft at Ramstein Air Base, Feb. 4, in preparation for a Negatively Pressurized Conex Lite patient movement. The mission is the first operational use of the NPC-L using aircraft assigned to the United States Air Forces in Europe.

Airmen assigned to the 86th Airlift Wing walk through a Negatively Pressurized Conex Lite at Ramstein Air Base, Feb. 4. The NPC-L is 30 feet long and has 16 seats, compared to the larger NPC which has 30 seats. The harnesses serve as safety measures in case of in-flight emergencies.
