***image1***The Landstuhl Neighborhood of Girl Scouts will celebrate the 96th birthday of the Girl Scouts of the USA from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Heaton Auditorium in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

The Girl Scout organization was founded in 1912  by Juliette Gordon Low. She gathered 18 girls and enrolled the first troop of American Girl Guides (later known as Girl Scouts) in Savannah, Ga. Although the first troop only had a little more than a dozen girls, there are now more than 3.7 million girls and adults enrolled in Girl Scouts throughout the United States, making it one of the largest educational organizations in the world. For details, visit www.girlscouts.org.

The Landstuhl Neighborhood of Girl Scouts is throwing a fun-filled, super-sized birthday bash complete with games, prizes and cake. The party includes a baby shower to celebrate “the birth” of the phenomenal organization and the first baby girl born at LRMC during Girl Scout week, Monday to March 15. The Girl Scouts will throw the proud parents a baby shower and make the the baby girl an honorary Girl Scout.

The girls will also host SWAPS − Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere − which are crafty little pins that Girl Scouts create to exchange (or swap) to make new friends. For details, visit www.landstuhlgirlscouts.org or e-mail Cyndi Bossart at
