AAFES recalls “Soldier Bear” toy set due to lead

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, recently announced a voluntary recall of the Soldier Bear brand Invincible Transport Converters, Style #88931 activity play toy. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.

***image1***The hazard is due to surface paints on toy action figures containing high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

According to AAFES, 758 of 2,948 sets were sold before the recall was ordered.

No health-related incidents have been reported.

The retail package has a Soldier Bear logo on the front and back. The back of the action figures are marked with letters “TC-ST.”

The set was sold at AAFES stores worldwide from August 2006 through April 2007 for about $19.95.

Consumers should immediately take the toys away from children and return the product to the nearest AAFES store for full refund.
