They may ride motorcycles rather than sleighs, and regulations do not permit an abdomen shaped like a “bowl full of jelly,” but members of the Warrant Officers Association, Rheinland-Pfalz Silver Chapter, along with family members and volunteers, emulated Saint Nick in a good cause during a succession of charity events culminating in a “Toy Run for Kids” slated for Saturday.

A C-17 Globemaster III carrying medical personnel from the 10th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Flight takes off Nov. 10 from Ramstein. The 10th EAEF is a mixture of active, reserve and guard Airmen deployed to Ramstein and constantly flying to war zones to retrieve patients needing higher levels of medical care.

Americans support host community, donation drive

The Atlantic Academy in Kaiserslautern recently sponsored a two-month-long donation drive for refugees. Americans donated items such as clothing, bedding, household items, toys and more. About 30 members of the Junior ROTC, KMC Eagles Hockey Organization and the Kaiserslautern Chapter of the RuffRyders Germany helped organize, sort and pack the items at the Atlantic Academy.

Families from the KMC gather around for a tree lighting ceremony Nov. 30 on Ramstein. The ceremony consisted of performances by the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band, the Blackbirds Chamber Choir and the Ramstein Liturgical Service Bell Choir. Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to the Ramstein Officers' Club to visit with Santa Claus and enjoy cookies and hot cocoa.
