A Ramstein civilian contractor was found dead in Kindsbach at approximately 10:30 a.m. April 4.
David Mear, 48, worked in the 435th Comptroller Squadron as the regional manager for the Computer Sciences Corporation.

A memorial service for Mr. Mear was held Thursday at Ramstein’s Donnelly Park.
“Anyone who had the pleasure of working with Dave can tell you that he was sincerely one of the kindest and gentlest people you could hope to meet,” said Fred Mentzel, director of technical operations for defense engineering services. “I never saw him angry nor did I ever hear him say a mean word. His technical knowledge and skills were exemplary.”

The cause of Mr. Mear’s death is currently under investigation by German authorities.
