Commander looks forward to new role

***image1***I am honored and very excited to be taking over the helm as your new KMC commander and first commander of the 435th Air Base Wing. I am impressed by the tremendous mission of this base. As you already know, the 435th Air Base Wing is responsible for supporting over 44,000 people, the largest population of Americans outside of the United States as well as maintaining support for the 86th Airlift Wing, and the base’s many other tenants from a variety of countries.
The role of the airmen, DoD civilians, host nation employees and families here is a vital one. Because we are forward deployed, we fill an incredibly important role in not only the combat Air Force but also the combat capability of all our military forces as well as other missions. As we take over the role of gateway to Europe, we must always be ready to support any contingency or exercise at a moments notice, and in fact do react in that way nearly every day.
Our ability to accomplish this daunting mission rests entirely on our most important and perishable resource, our people. I firmly believe that if we take great care of our people, their families, and their quality of life and work, then they will take great care of our mission. Therefore, I will ensure we maintain focus on people and continue to work on improving their quality of life and work as well as accomplishing our mission and improving our force protection.
