Commander’s Action Line

Q: Why have the designated parking areas at Donnelly Park been taken away from the families of the players?

A: I appreciate the chance to clear up some confusion on the parking situation at Donnelly Park. Parking during opening activities for youth sports was strictly controlled to allow coordinators and distinguished visitors access to the area while ensuring emergency response routes remained clear.

Since the opening day, we have taken measures to ensure general public parking spaces are made available to families while ensuring the access of emergency vehicles. The current policy allows for vehicles to park in approved (marked) designated areas. Security forces will only issue tickets to vehicles parked in a family housing parking spot or parked illegally in areas such as seeded areas, sidewalks, within five meters of an intersection, etc.
