Commander’s Action Line

QI just visited the new Ramstein Aquatic Center for the first time and it is fantastic. The best pool I’ve ever seen in the military. However, every hour, on the hour they clear the lap lanes for 10 minutes for a safety check.

Unless you are able to time your arrival very precisely, you will almost definitely get interrupted mid-workout.
Is there a way to accomplish these required checks with minimum disruption to those accomplishing workouts?

AThank you for your feedback, and I agree, the aquatic center is fantastic. Pool safety checks are completed on the hour starting at 1 p.m. Thus, the lap swimmers who arrive prior to 1 p.m. are not impacted. The hourly safety check allows all equipment to be physically inspected and to complete critical bottom-of-pool checks.

Safety is very important to us. Thanks to your call though, we revisited the safety aspect of lap swimmers required to get out of the pool.
We agree it does increase the difficulty of lap swimmers to “time” their workouts. As a result, we no longer will require lap swimmers to exit during the safety checks.

Thank you again for your comments and helping us ensure we provide the right service.
