Fire prevention

In the Oct. 13 edition, the KA published a series of photos demonstrating fire prevention methods. One of the photos and captions relayed that flour could be used to extinguish a kitchen fire. Fire prevention officers say that flour is a combustible substance and should not be used to put out fires. Instead people should use baking soda and cover the pan with a lid, if the fire is small, to smother it. If the fire is large, a fire extinguisher is the recommended action. — Illustration by Airman 1st Class Savannah Waters
