Garden Fair offers reduction in ticket prices

***image1***The Kaiserslautern Garden Fair with Europe’s biggest dinosaur exhibition has lured more than 2.5 million visitors since its opening in 2000. This year, it is open through Oct. 3. Until then, the fair offers a special coupon.
If visitors present their coupons at the garden fair cash box, adults pay 5 EUR and children 2,50 EUR for the entrance ticket.
The fair features a variety of gardens to include flower garden, activity garden, culture garden, aqua garden, dinosaur garden, learning garden and Japanese garden. Novelties are the ice age garden with a mammoth and the cactus garden with more than 1,000 cacti.
“Our highlight is the dinosaur exhibition with 76 dinosaur models built according to the originals,” said Thomas Zinssmeister, manager of the garden fair.
Visitors can admire the tallest dinosaur ever found, Seismosaurus with 45 meters and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Signs in German and English explain the origin, way of living and characteristics of all dinosaur models.
“Families love to walk along this unique display and have a picnic on one of the huge grass areas,” said Mr. Zinssmeister. Other attractions are the miniature golf course, playgrounds and various sports fields.
The coupons are available at the German-American Community Office in Kaiserslautern, Lauterstrasse 2, the USO office in Heidelberg and the 222nd Base Support Battalion Public Affairs office in Baumholder.
