Staff Sgt. John A. Jackson Jr., a member of the 425th Air Base Group, Izmir, Turkey, was convicted in a general court martial Nov. 1 in the Ramstein Courtroom by a military judge and found guilty of rape, in violation of Article 120, Uniform Code of Military Justice; and assault, in violation of Article 128, UCMJ. Sergeant Jackson was sentenced to reduction to E-1, confinement for five years and six months and a dishonorable discharge. 

Sergeant Jackson was convicted of raping his ex-girlfriend, who is a local German national. He was also convicted of assaulting her by grabbing her arm and ankles. Once released from confinement, Sergeant Jackson will be required to register as a sex offender.
