Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween is always a fun time for children. By following a few simple guidelines, we can assure our little ghosts and goblins are safe while they are out scaring the community out of candy.

1. Costumes should be made of flame retardant material. If they are homemade, make sure to use either a fire retardant spray or fabric that has been treated with a fire retardant.

2. Make sure your child’s costume has reflector strips and a flashlight or light stick to make them more visible.

3. Do not allow children to wear shoes with large heels on long costumes. They may trip easily.

4. If your child is carrying a prop, such as a sword or scythe, make sure it is made out of a flexible plastic.

5. If your child is wearing a mask, make sure the eye holes are large enough for them to see out of.
