Heidelberg beats Kaiserslautern

***image1***Heidelberg Generals and Lady Generals beat Kaiserslautern Panthers and Lady Panthers during the community-level basketball game Jan. 31 at Kleber Gym.
In the men’s game, Heidelberg Generals defeated Kaiserslautern Panthers, 101–93. The Lady Generals blasted the Lady Panthers, 74-58. Leading the Generals with 18 points each were Craig Marcelin, Rodney Bailey and Andre Barnes. Vincent Williams led the way for the Panthers with 22, and adding 13 points each were John Walker and Claude Hammonds.
Guard/Forward Rhonda Williams led the Lady Generals with 22 points, and adding to the victory were Vanessa McClendon with 18 points and Tina Barnes with 12 points. NeNe Buckle led the Lady Panthers with 22 points and Jennifer Francs added 15 points.
Heidelberg’s McClendon and Williams connected throughout the game.
“It was a balanced game,” said McClendon. “Our common goal is to win so everybody steps up and contributes point wise.”
The Lady Generals are leading the Installation Activity Management’s community-level women’s Northern Division. They are the defending U.S. Army Europe and Final Four champions.
The Lady Panthers and the Panthers will face Ramstein Lady Rams and Rams 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kleber Gym.
