Military OneSource Online has been available for almost two years and offers answers to questions from parenting and child care to addiction and recovery.
“There’s no question that can’t be answered,” said Dia D. Washington, 435th Air Base Wing Ramstein Family Support Center community readiness technician. “We (Ramstein FSC) always talk about OneSource to our military families and refer them to the Web site to assist them in any type of family matters they may have. It’s just that extra support they might need.”
The local Army Community Service and FSCs can assist and update KMC members on the information and services provided by Military OneSource.
“It’s actually a virtual alternative to all the services that are already here, and it’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long,” said Ute Nickstadt, 415th Base Support Battalion Army Community Service information and referral program manager. “It’s free, and the phones are staffed with master-level consultants.”
Eligible users can phone or e-mail one of these consultants who will follow-up within seven days or at the time mutually agreed upon with the caller. There’s even a research team who will do all the leg work on questions that need further exploration.
Military OneSource has a multi-cultural, multi-lingual staff that can simultaneously translate more than 140 languages and interpret school and other paperwork in more than 160 languages. For legal or medical documents, customers may be directed to legal or medical agencies said Ms. Nickstadt.
This online service can be accessed by active duty, National Guard, Reservists and deployed civilians and their families.

It’s simple to use according to Ms. Nickstadt and Ms. Washington.
In fact, there is no need to come up with a password or user ID. Customers can type in “military,” “army” or “air force” for their user ID, and they can use “onesource” as their password. Users can design their own user ID and password after their first use.
Customers can also call toll-free, 00-800-4648-1077, to receive assistance. The center also has access to a text telephone for low-vision users and telecommunications device for the deaf, 1-800-346-9188. There is also a phone number for Spanish-speaking customers, 1-888-375-5971.
