SPONSORS: Housing Office In-Processing Update
If you’re sponsoring a new arrival who is assigned to the Kaiserslautern Military Community, it is required that housing-eligible service members must in-process with the KMC Housing Office within two working days of arrival.
In-person briefings are held:
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

Wednesdays

Sponsors should be prepared to provide or arrange transportation and assist new arrivals to visit available rental homes, regularly file TLA claims for temporary lodging, and complete in-processing requirements with various departments.
Military Family Housing
Accompanied active-duty service members and dual-military couples are eligible to apply for on-base family housing upon reporting in. After receipt and verification of all associated documents (contact Housing Office for details), available Military Family Housing will be offered to service members based on rank and the number of dependents.
Economy Housing
Eligible unaccompanied personnel and those on the MFH waitlist who plan to live in the local economy are required to secure an available, housing-inspected, move-in-ready home that can be occupied within 30 days of their arrival date. Properties that have been inspected and approved by the KMC Housing Office can be found on www.homes.mil.
As always, the KMC Housing Office works to ensure a smooth and non-stressful approach to the in-processing experience during personnel moves. So, here is a short list of the required steps to receive assistance from the KMC Housing Office.
KMC Housing in-processing checklist:
- Complete the Housing In-Processing Brief & submit paperwork within 2 days of arriving
- Visit the Housing Office at least every 15 days to file TLA Claims
- Secure an on-base housing assignment or rental agreement in the local economy
- Arrange for Temporary Furniture & Loaner Appliances
- Submit property condition documents after moving in.
